I love number crunching, but numbers are just one way to measure success. The true measure of my success is the enjoyment and personal satisfaction I feel from using my experience and training to make your home buying or selling experience worry-free and a success in every way. And if we can have a little fun along the way, so much the better! In May, I was awarded the coveted Accredited Buyer Representative (ABR) Designation by completing a comprehensive two-day course in buyer representation, a written examination on legal and practical aspects of client representation, and practical experience in the field of buyer representation. More than one million people in the United States are licensed to sell real estate. Of those licensees, fewer than one in five hundred is an Accredited Buyer Representative. In September, I earned the prestigious Council of Residential Specialists (CRS) Designation by completing a rigorous course of advanced training, and by meeting significant experience requirements. Only about 5% of all RealtorsÒ in the U.S. can call themselves Certified Residential Specialists. My marketplace continues to be the entire Metro region, but in 2000 most of my clients and customers were buying or selling in Hennepin County (59%) and Ramsey County (31%) with the cities of Minneapolis and St Paul being the most popular localities. This year, about 82% of my clients and customers were buyers compared to 69% in 1999. Of those buyers, 2 out of three were first-time homebuyers, about the same ratio as last year. It's true that first-time homebuyers usually require extra effort and handholding, but I enjoy the challenges and the rewards (including the handholding and hugs at closing). In 2000, about half of my clients and customers were referrals or repeat customers. The other half found me through my FUN ads in Lavender Magazine and the Minnesota Women's Press/Directory, which contain my memorable personal web site address www.realestatefairy.com. I've received several out-of-state web inquires this year and dozens of local ones. On January 15, 2000, online house hunting got easier for JQ Public thanks to the Broker Reciprocity model developed by Brian Larson and the Regional MLS of Minnesota. The purpose of Broker Reciprocity is to put brokers back in control of their listings on the Internet. It allows participating Brokers to display all of each other's active listings on our company web sites. It also allows smaller real estate companies like Mavrik Realty to compete on a level playing field with the Big Players (that'd be Coldwell Banker Burnet and Edina Realty). In June, I added a home search tool (MLS Finder) to my company website. Now, you can see nearly every property on the market at www.mavrikrealty.com. Thousands of listings are updated here nightly. Visit us often and be the first to know about new listings! Contact me for more information and to see any of these properties. Once again, I've made my own Calendar for 2001 with a little help from Kinkos (yours is enclosed). It debuts a new ad campaign "Baby Ann" and new adaptations of the popular "Real Estate Fairy" ads. Keeping with tradition, I'm also including two creative compositions, something old and something new (couldn't decide between them). From 1980 is the song "It Takes Time," a favorite of my fan club and mine. From 2000 is a poem simply titled "Time," motivated by the Columbine School massacre and other recent hideous acts of violence involving youth. It's about life, growing up and setting a good example. Enough said. Wishing you and yours a joyous holiday season and a happy New Year! Ann Leviton, Broker/Owner - MAVRIK REALTY Time
Poem by Ann Leviton (17-Mar-00) Time passes I get glasses Get new focus in my life. I look behind, I look ahead it’s in the here and now I make my bed. Where I am is fine with me each day could be eternity. I’ve grown to see why elders do guard and guide us through our youth. It’s a natural urge to protect our young to shield them from a loaded gun. By trial and error we make our way what adults model, kids emulate. Be courteous and gracious benevolent, patient and kind Our children are watching us all of the time. ©1999. Spiritwood Music Inc. Second Chances It Takes Time
Lyrics and Music by Ann Leviton (1980) It takes time to grow into a woman It takes time to watch a falling star It takes time to turn around to get up from falling down It takes time to know just who you are. It takes time to move a mountain It takes time to journey near to far It takes time to be yourself not depend on someone else It takes time to love the "you" you are. It takes time to share a moment It takes time to watch the setting sun It takes time for love to grow more time for it to show It takes time for two to live as one. It takes time to write a riddle It takes time to right a wrong It takes time for us to know that it's time for us to grow It takes time to find where we belong. It takes time to grow into a woman It takes time to watch a falling star It takes time to turn around to get up from falling down It takes time to know just who you are. It takes time to know just who we are. ©1993. Spiritwood Music Inc. UNCENSORED
